The EIE Institute of Education will be sponsoring Ms. Anna Astakhishvili, a member of Team Georgia, who is participating in the 2010 event of “The World Scholar’s Cup” which will be held in Shanghai, China during mid June.

The World Scholar’s Cup is an international team academic competition with students participating from over 30 countries. It is growing widely in popularity and recognition and is said to be poised to become the World's First and Premier Academic Competition. The World Scholar's Cup has attracted what it calls "a global community of future scholars and leaders", and allows participants to "discover strengths and skills you never knew you had." Teams of 3 compete in challenges ranging from Debates to Writing events.

eie President Mr. Antonello Cappitta presented the sponsorship to Ms. Astakhishvili whilst visiting the eie Georgia centre in Tbilisi, Georgia earlier this month, and commented “eie is proud to assist Ms. Astakhishvili who will be representing the Republic of Georgia in this important event. eie believes in the academic development of young people and participating in such a competition is a valuable life experience. We hope that Anna will be able to obtain a very good result both for herself and even for her country. We also hope to see the first Maltese team participating in 2011”

Ms. Astakhishvili will be keeping a daily diary during the preparation period and also during the competition days in Shanghai. She will also be happy to accept any suggestions from the general public to help her in her quest.
